Art is in my blood. I can’t remember a time that I did not want to be an artist, much to my father’s dismay. As a child, I was never without my “colors”, otherwise known as crayons. My favorite thing to watch on Saturday mornings was The Joy of Painting. And when my mom gave me her Minolta X-700 to use for a photography class, I fell in love. In high school, I was also introduced to computer programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; programs that paved the way to my present career.

Education and Experience

I received my BA in Graphic Design from York College of Pennsylvania in 2005 with minors in Photography and English. Since then, I have worked in different creative environments including agency, nonprofit, in-house design team and as a free-lance Graphic Designer and Photographer. Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects including designing online publications, photographing clients and job sites, designing websites, laying out digital and print publications, creating brand standards and style guides, designing motion graphics and learning different aspects of video production including storyboarding, filming and post-production.

Inspiration

Travel has always been one of my primary sources of inspiration and rejuvenation in my creative work. If you ask me where I would like to visit next, the list would be long and rarely in the same order. You will rarely catch me on such expeditions without my camera or a notebook in hand, composing shots or jotting down notes for illustrations, color combinations, layouts or an idea for whatever project is percolating on the back burner.

My other major source of inspiration that is wildlife and the environment. Whether it’s floating on a lake, dipping my feet in the surf, or scrambling up a hiking trail–– the serenity and beauty I find in nature is a source of joy and release that has been invaluable to my work and self.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head.
